MAN-MCO - VS075/76

Hi,

In two minds whether to take our son's car seat or to rent one via the hire car company...

Having read the T&C's on the VS website, it states 1 buggy/pram or a child car seat, but on multiple forums people have confirmed that VS don't "appear" to be charging pax for taking a car seat (checkin) as well as a pram to the gate.

Can anyone confirm if they have had any experience of this and a "worst case" scenario if they did decide to charge us on the outbound leg ?

We are flying in eco this time.

Thanks

Rick

Working in the 'childcare' sector I am always aware of safety issues particularly during travel. :)

I understand that not all car seats fit all vehicles correctly and where they are incompatible there is a serious safety issue.

Are you able to verify that your car seat will be appropriate for the hire car that you will be taking?

I assume that the hire companies hire out seats appropriate for their vehicles. So would it be better to save the hassle of taking your own.

Just a thought maybe ;)

I rented 2 child seats in New York (prices vary according to location) and the cost, if I remember rightly was not that much and worth the money rather than lugging 2 child seats across the pond.

Also, one of my seats is ISOFIX and my rented car didn't have that- so I probably would have had to rent one anyway if I'd taken it!

To be honest, the seats we hired felt a little less "protective" than the Maxi-cosi's we have at home, but they were fine, and we did a lot of driving.
