Morning All, Flying out to HK tonight in economy and I can't get an aisle seat after checking in online this morning. Can someone tell me if the loading is heavy? Also when I booked I could only get back out of Shanghai PVG on the 1st April - what are the chances of me getting out of HK on the 30th March or Shanghai on the 31st March? Sorry but availability seems variable....showing nothing out of either until Sunday?

I can sympathise, I had similar trouble with my booking to HKG for just after Easter.

For your outbound tonight, full in economy, open elsewhere, try a miles upgrade on the day/at the desk if you can:
J9 C9 D9 I9 Z9 W8 S8 K8 Y0 B0 R0 L0 U0 M0 E0 Q0 X0 N0 O0

For HKG->LHR on Thursday 29th:
J4 C0 D0 I0 Z0 W0 S0 K0 Y0 B0 R0 L0 U0 M0 E0 Q0 X0 N0 O0

For HKG->LHR on Friday 30th:
J0 C0 D0 I0 Z0 W0 S0 K0 Y1 B1 R1 L1 U0 M0 E0 Q0 X0 N0 O0

For HKG->LHR on Saturday 1st:
J4 C0 D0 I0 Z0 W1 S0 K0 Y2 B2 R2 L2 U2 M2 E2 Q0 X0 N0 O0

Looks like coming back in economy on the Friday or Saturday is possible, just rather full.

That is very unusual and the first time I have seen that on this route.
It is usually the front and then PE that is full up first. Maybe something to do with Easter holidays and students ?

Even when full it can still change right up to the last minute. The VS HK office is extremely efficient and helpful and will take your number and call you if anything opens up.
Also, bear in mind that the VS201 originates in SYD and departs about 11an (HK time) so at that point they have a better of idea of how many seats are available on the flight.

I agree the HKG flights are looking unusual. I'm out on the 9th and back on the 12th.
I've declined an upgrade opportunity on the flight out as it shows 9's across all classes. I need to save my miles sometime, and hopefully booking an extra legroom seat in economy will keep my row clear.
On the flight back, all flights Wed-Sat were showing full in economy and PE for the two weeks after Easter, but 9's in Upper. Well worth the upgrade there as it can be a very tedious flight in a full economy cabin.

I'm sure in another month it will be back to normal, filling economy at the last minute but with no sign of upgrade opportunities.

I was op-upgraded at the gate the last time I flew back from HK in January but they wouldn't let me use miles to upgrade in the lounge go-figure! Flights out being full because of students is probable but normally coming back is quiet if that is the cause? Will try and at least get an aisle seat at the airport! Thanks for your help.
