I booked an Economy return LGW - LAS on 28 November last year, (for travel this June), and am almost certain that it was 29,000 in the Miles Sale that was about to end.

However, I've only just realised that I was debited 39,500 for the flight.

Can anyone remember? I'd like to know if I'm right, (or having a senior moment), before I call Flying Club.

Thanks for your help.

A reward seat sale for a Las Vegas flight would almost certainly not be on offer for just 29,000, I think that would only qualify for the New York or perhaps Boston flights.

I remember checking throughout October, November and December last year because I had a PE upgrade voucher to use but I never had enough miles for a reward economy seat other than to nyc which was on offer for 29,000 miles.

You could ring the FC but I bet they haven't made a mistake, Sorry.

Most of the recent reward sales, including about that time saved barely 500 miles on the normal price, so it could well be the sales reward prices... I can't remember there being a good one for a long time...

Actually I don't think you're right. I can remember booking a trip to LAS in Y a few years ago in the reward sale for 29,000 miles (it might have even been 25,000).

Hi,

The sale miles were 39,500 for Las Vegas in Economy.

So it looks like everything is by the book there!

Wow, that was really good. Penny_L says the offer was November 2010.
With a PE upgrade voucher that would make a very very good trip :)
Wish they'd repeat it again soon but LAS fares are usually quite high these days (compared to flying into LA) no matter what time of year.

I'll watch with much interest as I personally am still holding out for a reasonable deal so I can get to see Celine Dion before end of August ii)

They had numerous FC miles sales last year and the amounts varied on each sale. I booked some MCO returns at 30,000 each and some at 25,000 each (both upgraded to PE using the AmEx voucher), so it really does just depend on when you booked them.

All your responses are really helpful. Thank you.

I'm convinced I should have been debited just the 29,000 miles. At the time of booking, I only had just over 29,000 miles in my account and would not have been allowed to complete the transaction if I didn't have enough miles.

Also, on my Flying Club Statement, it's showing a debit of the 39,500 miles for my date of travel in June. I'm confused.

I've now raised it with VA and will let you know the response.

Once again, thanks for all your time. It's appreciated.

When you use miles for a booking, the miles deduction from the FC account will show on the date of your flight rather than on the date you made the booking, that is just how the system works.

They defo had a good sales deal at sometime last November as I hit it right then and got 2 returns JFK for 19500 miles each (plus the tax etc) and will be using them next week :-)
