Evening everybody.

Just a quick question. I am flying to New York JFK from Heathrow (VS3/4) on the 4th December and returning on the 9th December this year with my Dad. Due to an accident he had a few years back he suffers from a lot of pain if he is stuck in one position for a long time so we always fly PE and then call the special assistance guys to reserve extra leg-room seats if poss.

I've been holding back calling Virgin as I was waiting to see what aircraft we would be flying on as when we first booked the aircraft section was blank and because of the seat reservation restrictions we couldn't see a seat plan. I have just checked tonight and the aircraft is now showing as an A340-300 on both flights.

I'm just wondering if anybody knows if this is likely to change as we were hoping to fly on the new A330 and although its not a major issue it seems a bit strange that on a premium route they would go from using the most modern plane in the fleet to one of the oldest, or could it just be that with new planes due to arrive over summer and the old ones being retired it is just to early to tell what is going to be happening in 8 months time?

Any help would be appreciated. :)

I shouldn't worry. Some time ago I booked flights to NYC and they were all showing 343's . When I queried it on booking it was suggested that the aircraft were undergoing D checks but the reality was that a couple of weeks later the aircraft type changed to the ones expected on that flight
