First time here since the relocation, and yes, I really really like it. Definitely more stylistically similar to LHR now, sadly without a deli counter though, which has always been my favourite part of visiting Heathrow.

Just had a decent enough duck rillette (why the pickled gherkin with it though?), and just waiting to see what the steak and ale pie is like. In the unlikely event that I
I find a cherry tomato, I shall instruct the staff to FedEx it to Slinky.

Oh, and a belated thank you to the CH staff from my last visit in February, when I left my overcoat in there and one of them rushed it down to the plane just seconds before the doors closed. Little touches like that which keep me loyal... (alright, the miles might play a small part too ): )

I'm sure you're all itching for an update on the pie... Anyway, it was very good. But as with the rillettes, I have to question the overall construction.

Pie - check
Beans - check
Mash - er... AWOL

Ok, it wasn't actually specified and I probably made an assumption, but rather like the sausage sandwich/butter debate from a while back, I was left with the feeling that an important component was missing.

So... What would YOU serve with a pie?

Ok, kust got on board... First impressions:

Serious, SERIOUS, lack of privacy relative to the old UCS. The 'opaque' glass screen is not in the slightest bit opaque, I can see very clearly the chap in 5D across from me. There's also a general sense of increased density in here. This is not good.

Seat - I thought it was supposed to recline 50 percent more than the old one - not what I'm sensing.

Glass holder - mush better positioned, further forward, no battling with the LED light for space.

Ottoman - yep, it's a tiny wedge now, probably about 30-40 percent less useable bum space there.

Obviously it's all sparkly and new, so there is that benefit, but not too impressed so far.

Have to turn off now, more to follow later...

So the opaque glass is confirmed as being nothing of the sort . Great (not) v( v( v( .
Dense isn't a good experience IMHO, and coupled with the diminished ottoman surface area reinforces I'm not in any great hurry to experience the product.

I'm with DL, have no desire to try it, but I will for research purposes soon.

As for the cherry tomatoes, you have permission to incinerate them!

Sounds like the new UCS not being on all the flights is a bit of a big 'phew' thing now, rather than being a disadvantage...

Personally, I never felt being packed tighter into a smaller space was going to be a good thing...
