I've just upgraded from PE to UC using miles. Unsurprisingly there was limited availability and so I had to switch to the other flight on that day.
As I had to switch flights, I was charged £90 on top of the other fees/taxes.
Just wondering if that's normal procedure and if anyone's managed to negotiate the waving of that fee?

Not going to lie, I was somewhat drunk whilst on the phone (having been checking daily for a seat to become available), so didn't even try to put up a fight!

The fee is correct and detailed in the original T&C's linked to the fare code you were booked in.

There really isn't much you can do about it I am afraid to say.

I was told years ago that on the day changes didn't incur a fee - perhaps wrongly!

I think dougja is referring to changing to an alternative flight on the same departure date, Slinky - rather than making the actual change on the same day...?

I have been charged this a few times as well. Each time I pointed out that it was not a date change as I was still flying the same day just a different time. Still had to pay it.

They obviously can waive it if necessary. I was informed of a 4hr delay to my departure on VS16 last week, so I called up and they changed my ticket to VS28 at no charge. I guess it helped to ease their problem by having one less person delayed.
