Seems this has been going on for sometime.
I do remember seeing that if you are able to "bid" you get an extra option under the "Manage My Flights" page, with a box to enter an amount and a range value.
Never seen it on any of my bookings in PE. I am also surprised it has not been publicised more.

I got lucky with this - as said, the link pops up in Manage My Booking, the same like it would offer a chargable upgrade. You can even bid for upgrades when you have a miles seat like I did...! Got a pretty good deal, converted the booking to a K and then earned full miles. :)

The only criticism I have is that:
a) You don't seem to get any email confirmations or anything from it. I didn't get a reissued ticket or an email to tell me that my bid had been sucessful - I just noticed it in Manage My Booking and then confirmed it in my credit card statement.
b) You have to put your payment card details right at the outset... so don't use a card that is going to expire/get maxed out/that you're going to cancel before your flight or they won't be able to claim payment if you 'win'...!

I wasn't asked for any cc details when I made my bid (and got my confirmation that I had done so with the option to up the bid at any time) on the NYC flight in April - perhaps thats why my bid didn't win then :?

Strange, I could have sworn that I put my CC details in when the system was first set up, certainly didn't add them later so I must have...!

IIRC the bidding system doesn't take Amex? Which is rather odd. My recollection could be wrong though!

I now want a go at this bidding lark!!!!

Just booked some flights to MCO - no option to bid.
Will have to book another flight now!!! Boston look favorite.
Do we know what routes this is being offered on and what classes before I run out of cash???

Only VS15/16 LGW-MCO and VS45/46 LHR-JFK, and only from Economy to PE.
