Dear v-flyers,

I think I did something quite stupid. LHR-DEL-LHR in PE for November is what I was looking for and when I checked, the prices were already over £990 back in the beginning of July.

So I made the great error in judgement of waiting, hoping, that there would be a sale in PE soon... only to notice that the prices are inching up slowly, and the days that I want to travel (or nearby) are all £1166. Then I remembered the peak season for DEL is November.

My question is, therefore, should I bite the bullet and buy now or should I hope for any sales? I want to pay cash for this one rather than using miles in order to keep the Au ticking over (not been as flighty this year as I have in previous years).

Thank you :)

Unfortunately no one can advise you on this other than yourself. If we had a crystal ball into when sales are scheduled we'd all be delighted, but we don't.

Didn't expect that reply there Slinky - reminded me of my old headmaster! |:) I was just hoping for a few pointers that another V-flyer was given a few days after my original post. O well... :?

Post Olympics sale by BA have indeed prompted the VS sales (it would seem) and for my particular date and routing (LHR DEL 28 Oct DEL LHR 04 dec) turned out to be £847.19 on both BA WT+ and VS PE.

I'm going to get yelled at for this for sure, but I am going to sample WT+ and let you guys know how the service is on a BA 744 outbound and 772 inbound. Its just that being EDI based means having some sort of BA status would be more practical. Doubtless I'll be crying for some VS afterwards though....

Go try BA then, my point was fair then, sales are unpredictable, it's great to comment with hindsight though isn't it?

Be fair. You asked a question and received a response which didn't in the least seem pompous :)

No one could give you advice on what to do, got to be your decision. As for the prospect of a forcoming sale, that's like predicting the lottery results- basically anyone's guess ii)

Enjoy your BA flight y)

@Slinky & Hev60

Oops... :0 I didn't intend to suggest Slinky's comment was pompous - (on re-reading it though, it does seem so - I will never write a comment having been awake for 24hrs again! v( ) I'm sorry! :# :# :#

There was another user that asked exactly the same question the day after I posted originally, and it was replied to with some past experiences and some helpful conjecture - you can view it here...

It is a given that the sales are unpredictable, but the type of advice this guy was proffered is in the end what aided me, and is the sort of thing that makes V-flyer such a useful tool. y)

Anyways, apologies again, and I hope you are enjoying the sunshine! y) 8D
