Hi,

Just booked Virgin PE from Manchester to Orlando 24/05/13 on VS075, return PE on 14/06/13 VS076, how long before the flight can we pre-book out PE seats? there are 2 adults and 1 child, so we want to be sat together, A330-300 PE seat plan looks like 2 + 3 + 2 per row.

Also, do the seat arms raise? so if we get 3 seats together, we can raise the arms for comfort?

Thanks,
Paul.

Seat arms don't raise in PE.
I don't have experience of 1 child 2 adults, but they can't separate an adult from the child. I would guess that it's most likely you would end up with your chosen seats 3 in a row, but not guaranteed. Depending on the age of the child and the other passengers in the cabin, you may be really lucky and be moved to the front, giving you extra space.

Hi Paul

You do not mention if you have booked direct with VS or through Virgin Holidays

In the case of the former, itis currently the case that VS have announced that it will not be possible to pre book seats for flights departing after 1 November whilst they change their Reservation systems ( many V Flyers believe that they wil be introducing charging, but this is by no means confirmed)

Therefore, in direct answer to your question, at this moment nobody s able to say

It was booked as a stadalone flight (booked through a Florida specialist travel agency with independant villa), so i'm guessing is VS rather than Virgin Holidays.

Child will be 6 years old BTW.

Last time I flew VS PE was in 2004 on a 747 upper deck LGW to ST Lucia, but that was as a couple, so we just got 2 seats alone which was good, just couldn't face the 9hr flight without PE :D this is an A330-300, so never flown PE in one of those.

Paul, I think you'll find the 3 seats in the middle of PE will be just perfect for you and your family. I have now had 3 MCO trips using the new aircraft and, despite other reports to the contrary, think that the cabin layout is great. It will never compare with the bright, airy, spacious feeling of the 'old' PE in the 747 bubble, but I think the time has come to consign those trips to a pleasant memory. The cabin is dead, long live the cabin.
I should think that your child will most definitely enjoy the new JAM system - me and the present Mrs Treelo certainly do and we're ever so slightly older than 6 ;)
Enjoy your trip - and don't forget the TR.

Thanks for that, good to hear from someone who has flown the route on the new PE, I was abit concerned since booking I have read a few mixed reports, particularly about legroom when seats infront are reclined.

I originally priced the holiday flying Thomson Premium on the new dreamliner, as Virgin price for PE was nearly £200 per person more on the same day, but then a day later I got a call from the travel agents saying I could get VS for £50 per person more, so I went for it having flown VS a few times and always having a good experience.

Paul,

Unless you're particularly tall, I don't think you'll have a legroom problem. The legroom is fine for me but then I'm only 5' 8'' (and a half!) and the seat back screens tilt to negate any problems reclined seats might cause. I have read TRs where other V-flyers have had a problem but, so long as the pax in front don't recline during the meal service v( you sould be OK. Enjoy. :)

Thanks, i'm 5'10", so not particularly tall, hopefully pax infront will not recline during the meal, if they do, will switch seat with son as he's only 5 so will have plenty of leg room hehehe

We plan to pre-book block of 3 seats in the middle section of PE, but based on previous answers will have to wait for the 'upgrade' before I can pre-book seats, I'm guessing there will be a mad rush on the site when the upgrade completion is announced as people will want to reserve their seats.

Actually I don't think there will be a rush on the site, nor an announcement, judging by the conversations I have had with people in the past about managing their bookings online. Most people seem to wait until check-in, or trust their travel agent. YMMV.
