I have to buy an UC ticket LAX>LHR, then return LHR>NYC, that someone else is paying for. It doesn't seem to matter if its an I or Z class to them, despite the $1800 difference. The 'I' gets me a chauffeur car, what else - more miles? more TP? Just the car? (I am Gold already)

I arrive at LAX directly from Arizona, on another flight, so no use of car there. However on arrival in London, I'll be heading out to Cambridgeshire, about 95 miles from LHR, so that's over the 75mile limit, by about 20miles. Extra cost for 20 miles is is what -?- trying to see if this is worth doing. Return is same, another flight gets me into LHR directly, so there's just the car home into NYC to factor in.

Trying to work out if its worth the extra $1800 of someone else's money! Just can't stop myself for looking for value, even though its not my $.

Wow, very noble of you. No more miles or TPs than Z - it would just be the car and the slightly increased flex ticket. :?

My opinion, 2 car journeys for $1800?? Jog on.. If they are willing to pay your cab fares to and from the airport it would save them a load of dollars.. they might just pay for a good night out whilst you are in the UK too :P

Enjoy your trip 8D

ie: 20 miles = 40 mile round trip, so about £40 charge.

So 95 miles return = 190 miles less 40 = 150 miles and the I is therefore worth £150 each way or £300 total or $450. Take the Z.

This situation qualify: 2 years ago, 3 adults (2'Z's and 1'R'[old school version of today's 'I'] - £250 fare diff!!) CDC covered round trips for all 3 of us.. In the UK from London to LHR - not overly strange (at tristar's prices about £65 each way).. but of course also in Tokyo from Narita Airport to Yokohama city round trip (61miles x 2 :P ) (according to the driver about £200 each way!!!) - win y)

Unlimited?? Going to try a flight up to MAN March next year and then get the CDC to LHR?? :P

We have I tickets for MAN to MCO on VS73 next April ?| Return on VS74 is Z

Yep, I'm not saying that they are only available for business use, but as they are the cheapest fare with enough flexibility to satisfy most corporate travel departments, are available without needing a saturday night stay (as per many or most business trips...), and also come with the car service, you can see why they are attractive to this market, despite the apparently disproportionately higher cost than you get with a Z.
