We're currently on a P/G ticket for vs43/44 on the 29/8 and 3/9. In the last 30 minutes J availablity has gone from 0 to 7. I can confirm this by doing a dummy booking and it allows me to see the 7 seats as available.

Some questions.

1. Given its only 40 hours to scheduled departure I think it's likely that some may get changed to G tickets. Is this a reasonable assumption? If so any idea when they would be changed?
2. If there is no G and I complete OLCI as soon as it opens in order to secure decent PE seats, will I still be able to go from PE to UC is they subsequently get released?

Thanks,

Andy

I never raise my hopes about upgrading

There is no harm in calling VS FC to see if G availability has opened up, but given we are talking of Las Vegas where they currently have a significant delay, I would not wish to place any bets on the VS being accurate

P is a reward seat in Premium Economy
G is a reward seat in Upper Class

The VS web site shows at least one G on the VS43 tomorrow - I'd get on the phone PRONTO!

Just to follow up, the seat maps appeared around 7.30 ish so I managed to get 79A/K but boy did all the other ones go quick; by 8.15 nothing was left.

At 9AM the G seats appeared, two of which I promptly bagged so that will be a nice surprise for the missus.

The other 5 seats are still available as G...

Can I ask - Did you upgrade using your airmiles, or did you have to pay. I don't mean to be rude but I'm just trying to learn how VS ticks.

So I originally got two Premium Economy tickets for the econonmy mileage amount when the sale was on in July. Those cost me 95000 miles plus fees (about £780 for the pair of us)

About two weeks ago two G opened up on the VS44 inbound so I upgraded to those. That cost me another £120 in fees (for both of us). They had to refund the miles I had used but they did agree to take a VS Amex voucher for some of the miles which was very nice.

Today I upgraded the outbound leg with another 47500 miles total and another 120 in fees, still with me?

Total cost ~1000 in duty/tax/apd fees, 200K miles.

Well done, I hope you don't tell her until you get there!

I'm sure that will be a lovely surprise for your wife. We also got 2 PE tickets when they were doing them at economy rate :) Unfortunately, we only have 15k miles left between us now so no further upgrades for us for a while. Thanks for the info.

Oh, so glad I got the upgrade. The fire alarm at LGW airside has gone off and everyone has been evacuated.

We were in the sunglass shop and promptly ran back into the safety of the clubhouse :)
