Reward Seat Sale - Anyone just missed out?

My first post on V-flyer....

I recently purchased a one way PE reward seat to BGI. This was achieved by utilising 23,750 miles, £290 & one VA CC EC to PE reward.

The purchase went through on the 27th Oct and as most of you will be aware a reward seat sale kicked in on the 7th Nov. The same ticket would now only cost me 15,833 miles, a saving of 7917 miles.

I am planning to phone VA to see if they would apply the sale price to my booking taking into consideration it was only made 10 days before the sale started. Has anyone been in this predicament before and have they had any success in getting VA to do this? Past experience tells me that I am not going to have much luck!

Any advice would be appreciated.

I always reply to this sort of question with asking would you be happy to pay more miles if VS increased the mileage amount a few days after you had booked?

VS didn't make you buy the ticket when you did, so I guess you must have been happy with the deal you booked, so I think it's a case of some you win/some you lose, but to just answer your specific point, I don't think you will have much luck asking VS for a refund in the difference, what do they achieve by doing so?

Good to hear your take on the situation. You are right in the fact that I accepted the conditions of the booking when I purchased the ticket, VA do not owe me any favours in this instance.

I guess I am coming more from a customer service point of view. For a very minimal loss on their part they would gain an increased level of customer satisfaction by going above and beyond when they didn’t need to. VA honouring the sale price on my booking would put them in very different light to me as a customer, but I guess it comes down to how valuable that is to VA. They are a business at the end of the day and the benefit gained would have to be quantifiable.
