LHR 747 Fleet

Hi everyone, my first post on here... Wish me luck!!

I am flying LHR - SFO early Feb and my ticket shows a 747, which is great! I can't find anywhere online whether the LHR 747 have been refitted? I know they completed all others last year but am still a little confused.

Can anyone possibly shed and light for me and if at all possible, tell me when the last refit would have been done on LHR 747 if not with the others?

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but only the LGW/MAN/GLA 747's were refitted. The LHR 747's haven't been touched.

Hey... Thanks for such a rapid response! I thought that would be the case... Do you know if LHR 747s would be newer or in better shape, or am I getting the oldies?

The LHR 747's are in good shape so really didn't need a refit (unlike the LGW ones). The refits were to bring the LGW fleet up to date with the rest of the fleet as they had the old seats and very dated IFE.

The LHR fleet all have the latest seats (although not the brand new UCDS) and on demand IFE so you certainly aren't getting an old or tired a/c.

Although technically, FAB, HOT & BIG are actually older than the LGW/MAN 744 fleet.

a weird thing keeps happening when i view certain thread. any posting by Nottingham Nick never shows up even though it shows on the preview bar that he has posted and on this thread it said 8 posts i could only see 7 !!!!!!!!!!! does Nick write in invisible ink ???

As moderators, if any of us go in and edit posts for spelling/punctuation/fixing quotes etc, it shows up in the post feed but wont actually show in the posts.

Hey thanks for the great response! I checked this on my mobile before someone pointed out there was a NOT missing and panicked!

I'm looking forward to VS upper class although I am not the best flyer... Really enjoyed sing and etihad business, so looking forward to loosing my cherry... Excuse the crude...

As James has said, Nick isn't actually posting anything, he is doing some 'modding' on that thread. The news/recent activity feed can't recognise the difference, so it shows that Nick has made a post, but he hasn't. Unfortunately there isn't anything that can be done about this.

Interesting...

I just wonder how long the gist of your post will remain true. In my experience PE is in pretty good shape, but the UC cabin is starting to show its wear a bit, and Y is sort of OK. But the planes are looking distinctly old-fashioned in terms of their fittings, compared to the new Airbuses.

It will be interesting to see what happens.
