LHR - LAX

Hi all this is my first post so please bare with me. My wife and I along with an infant are travelling to LAX in March. We booked to go PE and it said it was a 747 , I have chosen our seats and was just wondering as I have read on here that Virgin are not using 747's on this route till June what happens with my seat selection, could we be put back in economy if not enough PE seats on Airbus. When I log in to manage my trip it still says 747 but i see todays VS 7 was airbus, can any one shed some light.

Welcome to v- flyer . No you won't be put in economy. Whilst the aircraft might change it's VERY unlikely that your cabin will ( especially if travelling with an infant).Keep an eye out on your seats in manage your booking, as if the aircraft changes you won't be automatically allocated new seats.

Had the same happen to me on the LAX route. Sometimes shows a 747 but they always change it to a Airbus nearer the time. Just keep an eye on the seating chart as you will loose your selected seats when they change the aircraft and you'll need to pick seats again.

Very much doubt you would ever be downgraded!

Good news about it changing to an Airbus is that the PE seating config is 2-3-2. So you should be able to get the much-coveted row 18 bulkhead seats which have lots of room!

Hi, another first time poster to bare with here please...

We are booked on VS07, also in March, and manage my booking is still showing a 747. Just to confirm...will the aircraft definitely be changing and how near to departure date does this usually happen?

We had already picked 12a & k but still only four seats in UC have been selected as at today. Does this seem low to those in the know and is it anything to do with a pending aircraft change?

If it is changed can anyone recommend good seats for travelling as a couple in the A340-600? Thanks.

No, there's every chance it will stay a 747, particularly if it's a weekend. But if it does change to a 346 it could happen at any time so it's worth checking your MMB page every week or so just to check.

Only 4 seats taken in UC at this stage sounds perfectly normal to me. Based on my 1st experience of the 90 day rule and the way that the good seats got snapped up almost immediately, I'd have to disagree... There are quite a lot of obsessive people out there!

Regardless of the 90 day rule in the last twelve months I have had flights booked where for the longest time, I was the only one with a seat requested and even until a few days before the flight I could count on the fingers of one hand the number requested. Not everyone is as nerdy or as informed us with regard to seat requests and others simply are not bothered. On each occasion, while the cabin was not full, there were certainly far more in the cabin than the number who had pre-requested
