?| I will be using the CDS for the first time for a return trip to and from Manchester Airport in April. When making the booking with a most helpful CS agent at Crawley oo) (you know who you are, PM) I asked what the tipping procedure was. Not being a taxi service she said the Drivers do not necessarily expect a tip. However, I believe that good service warrants reward so could regular CDS users help me out here. The journey is approx 45 mins to an hour each way.
Thank you, JS

An interesting question :?

It massively depends on the kind of person that you are and how good the driver is..

Taking myself as an example, I am not someone that tips when someone goes about doing their job as per the job description.. if on the other hand the driver is informative, chatty and going that extra step to provide an excellent and enjoyable experience then I would consider a tip to be in order.

I use the same principal in the CH's around the world for servers/spa treatments dependant on the level of service offered. Sometimes the people will refuse to take it, but they definitely appreciate the sentiment.

Only you can judge y)

i don't personally & before i did i'd want to know what the policy is for VS & Tristar employees - are they allowed to keep individual tips or do they get pooled?

I'm typically tipping at a rate of about £5-10 per LHR run, assuming the driver has not done anything to annoy me - driving at sub-60mph so that they can get a bonus for low fuel use is a pet hate as it either means I am leaving the house earlier than I need to, or (worse) getting less time in the CH than I should...

I know many people would argue that tipping should be for exceptional service only, but I guess the fact I've worked for American banks for over 15 years is starting to take its toll on my cultural norms...

I tip the tristar driver £10.00 although did not know about the sub-60 MPH and I worked for American banks for 45 years!
