Is it me or am I in a 70's living room?? So far, so good. Reconised at the check-in by a lovely lady who even made a comment that referred to my reason of all the recent travel, I really felt like a person and not a 'face' As for the CH well a JD tastes the same where ever you are. Looking forward to a cocktail, hot chocolate with Bailey's and a biscuit, a 'sleep suit' a movie and a bed.......no particular order!
I share your pain ... at least its a quietish space albeit one that's like a large dungeon with odd sandwiches and second rate liquor ... could be worse but it's definitely at the bottom end of the lounge scale (as is MIA but hope the trip was great).
There's a plane at JFK, to fly you back from far away
all those dark and frantic transatlantic miles

look on the bright side, it's still 100 times better than sitting out in that dingy, depressing terminal. I've rarely been in a more depressing airport
I think you are being very kind refering to it as a "70s Sitting room" I would date it older than that in it's feel. Kinda like an old smoking club but with out the smoke! Our last few trip from MIA we have chosen not to bother making use of the lounge because downstairs offered far better!

My usual plan is to arrive as late as possible ): .

i find most if not all of the US domestic carrier's lounges to be like a terminal with better seating. It's far to easy & cheap to get in so that there's no exclusivity & all your're getting is the $ worth of that entry fee. AA offer 1 free drink & a nibbles dispenser
Whew! Felt I was being a little ungracious. Happy not to be alone in my thoughts! After a nice hot shower in revivals, a full English and a nice cuppa the 70's smoking lounge is a distant memory. TR to follow.....

Sorry Slinky, are you calling Jack Daniels a second rate liquor :0 :0
Heretic

Just to weigh in, I do like a quiet space before a flight, and even the lounges that are like rejects of the Bauhaus Movement are still better than the terminal buildings I have been through.. (may make an allowance at CLT though .. usually takes one exception to prove the rule, does it not

Seconded. Better to spend the last few hours on the beach or in the pool!

I'd go further, it is the most depressing airport ever - "hell hole" doesn't do it justice n(
A purple boarding card, pre-booked cowshed treatment, glass of T10 with lime, a proper amenity kit, packet of polos and a Freedom Menu please!
