Have been looking at San Francisco hotels for this September's west coast jaunt, keen not to get stung on price like last year when rates were high due to a massive convention.

Previously when using Amex PTS it's been a case of phoning but now a full online booking service is available, all via single sign-on from main account. I was impressed, in a nutshell I've booked a great hotel (the Huntingdon at Nob Hill) with PTS guaranteed benefits of free breakfast, early checkin, late checkout, limo transfer to SFO & room upgrade subject to availability. All for more than £200 less than on Expedia or hotel's own site. One pence (yes 1p!!) taken from my card now and the balance not until arrival at hotel. Fully cancelable until 24 hrs before. The site offers a slick PDF voucher printing feature and, all in all, I'm impressed! Should I find a better deal I'll cancel & rebook!

What I'm unsure about is the triple points offer for hotel bookings until end Jan as, although I have "booked" assume I won't benefit what with only 1p being charged!

Thanks
James

Looking to book a luxury weekend hotel break in Miami for March. Anyway of seeing these offers without calling into Amex Plat travel? The FHR rates aren't good compared to Trivago.

Yes, use the American site which has similar offers. You can't log in but you can search and shows up offers like complimentary nights.

Can't see anything to suggest that FHR bookings are excluded from the triple points promotion so assume FHR is 'in'.

What I can't work out is how any reward will be applied for a booking made in Jan when the actual card transaction doesn't happen till months later at the hotel? Perhaps they just keep on record the estimated amount as at Jan and then apply the triple points months down the line according to prevailing exchange rate?

There is a little asterisk by the strap line promotion which infers some terms & conditions somewhere but can't find anything?
