Hi all my first post so please be gentle with me.Does anyone know what the bulkhead consists of in front of 14 H/K on the refurbished 747-400. By that i mean is it a wall or a curtain, as a disabled passenger i may be allocated these seats or 14 A/C. I've been led to believe that the legroom is not particularly good if it's a wall. This will be our first flight with Virgin to Cancun and looking forward to flying PE. Thanks in advance.

Hi and welcome to the site.

It is a bulkhead so there is a wall in front of you. The actual space between the seat and the wall is quite a lot bigger than the distance between a standard PE seat with a normal row in front. However, with it being a wall, you cannot then stretch your leg out under the seat in front of you, so the overall leg room might be slightly less.

Depending on your disability and specific needs, there might not be any reason why you have to be assigned those seats if you feel a standard PE seat will still be suitable for you. If you haven't already, contact the special assistance team and discuss your requirements with them and I am sure they will be to help and advise as necessary.

Enjoy your flight.

Hi Neil, thanks for your reply. I have to contact the assistance team anyway so i'll ask them about the seating. Many thanks.

Good morning Chris.

I flew LGW-UVF in July last year on one of the re-fitted Planes, my wife and I were in 15 H+K with my parents in front in 14 H+K.
My mother is disabled from a car crash many years ago and has problems with her back and legs she is 5'10" and had no problem with the legroom in 14 K.

I've just flown on a refit and was in 15k, the couple in front looked to have lots of room in front, there is a wall, and the toilet is behind it.

Hi Dominic,Miss G
Thanks for your replies, they are most helpful. We are flying to Cancun in June which as you know is around 11 hours.I get painful spasms in my leg as a result of my disability and as such i will need to be very careful with my seat selection. As an aside, at the 90 day point can seats be requested for both outbound and inbound flights. Many thanks.

Hi Chris

You can select your seat 90 days before the departure of each flight sector, I don't believe you can book bulkhead seats via OLCI but the special assistance team may well be able to help you with this, or head to LGW the day before departure and use twilight checkin as early as you can to try and secure the seat best suited to you.
As I said earlier my disabled other found 14K perfect for her back and leg problems.
I hope you get things worked out and enjoy your trip to Mexico.

Thanks everyone,i've spoken to the Assistance Team and they have put a note on our booking requesting 14 A/C,H/K. they cannot guarantee that we will get them of course.Just keep our fingers crossed that when we do the twilight check in they allocate them to us.
