Or book the No. 1 lounge

Or pay for entry on the day, space permitting. £60, I think. Given that it's likely to be quiet on Easter Sunday, it's definitely worth a shot.

Didn't know this could be done? Thought access was only allowed for UC guys and people that are invited in.

Only if you have booked via Virgin Holidays as a package. Otherwise it's £60, on the door, subject to space.

Given the timing of Easter this year and virtually all schools off the same two weeks rather than spread out I'd say LHR is in for a very busy weekend.

My advice to the OP is to book one of the other lounges before they get booked out.

The only invite I can see is for the LHR- MAN route which is of no use to you ?| .

Au contraire m'lady, someone is doing the round trip, beginning in the fine city of Manchester, and has offered up (L). However I think they fly out (of T1) half an hour after IP flies in (to T1).

?| My point exactly-all the MAN flights arrive and depart from T1 not T3. The OP seems to be seeking an invite to the CH .

True enough, and apologies. Had I but paused in my reflections I would have realised that if you're Au and flying on Little Red only, they presumably aren't going to let you airside at T3 to enjoy the CH even if theoretically you had plenty of time to make a journey between T1 and T3...

I don't know if I am reading your posts the wrong way, lspoor, but I sense you would really love CH access and an upgrade (who wouldn't?). But I am worried that it is going to make or break your holiday. To temper that I would say:

Enjoy your trip and try not to get hung up on whether you get lounge access or not. An upgrade or not.

I think sometimes that with websites like V-Flyer, the sense of excitement at travelling can be dampened somewhat by the idea that you are missing out on something. Like Clubhouse access. Sometimes too much knowledge can be a bad thing.

Here's my Virgin Atlantic journey...

My first ever flight to New York was with Virgin in economy, no lounge access, no upgrade.
A V-Flyer member (slinky09) recommended Chez Gerard in Terminal 3 which is in a quiet corner of the airport. So I went there for breakfast and had a wander. It was great.

My flight home was from Boston in economy, no upgrade or lounge there either. At Boston, I had a few drinks at the bar with my last few dollars and watched the planes. But I loved it.

I was of course envious (in fact, probably a bit too envious if truth be told) of the other members who seemed to go Upper Class here there and everywhere, and so I wanted to try it too. Finally there was a sale (thank you Lehman Brothers) - flew to Boston out UC and back PE for £800. And yes it did spoil me and yes I do joke about not wanting to sit at the back of the plane, but then, sometimes I have to.

When I flew to Jo'burg in 2010 I booked Y out and back and then got a great deal on an upgrade home to PE.

After my arrival in Jo'burg, I realized that I allowed the fact that I was in Y on the way out to influence my every thought about that holiday. The flight was just 12 hours out of a two week holiday. It was fine. I was fed, watered, entertained and slept a bit. The flight wasn't perfect (see TR) but it wasn't at all bad.

My first holiday where I am in UC both ways is this November. I can't wait. That comes five years after my first flight on Virgin. It comes by accruing enough air miles to upgrade. Accrued through booking flights, using Shops Away (even iTunes purchases get you miles), booking Virgin Trains and by recommending friends to sign up for the Flying Club. I don't have an Virgin Amex although that is a sure way of getting miles fast.

So what am I saying? Your flight makes up a tiny portion of your holiday. Enjoy it for what it is. Remember that you will likely be the first V-Flyer to report on how the connection works from T1 to T3 at Heathrow. :) We will be waiting with baited breath!

Enjoy your holiday!

If you do want a nice lounge experience you can still purchase lounge access here: http://www.no1traveller.com/heathrow-ai ... inal-3.htm

Can I just say thank you for this tip, as a result I've just managed to book the CH it for my Husband and I as our Dubai trip is for his 40th ^) y)

We can't afford UC but are going PE so this will give us a nice start to the hols.

I've been flying my whole life, I wouldn't expect an upgrade with a click of a finger! Would just very much appreciate if I was ever given the chance! :)
