My husband and I fly once a year to the Caribbean and have now accumulated enough miles for a reward flight (phew!). Can anyone tell me what are the chances of reward flights (in PE)to Barbados being available from LGW for the beginning of February next year? We usually go for the first 2 weeks so no school holidays are involved. I don't want to wait in vain!

Welcome to the site.

It is very difficult to predict how and when VS release reward seats. Obviously your flights will be going on sale very soon, depending on your exact travel dates, so it is important to check for reward seats on a daily basis.

The PE cabin is quite large now on the BGI a/c so I would be surprised if they didn't release some for most flights, however it will help if you can be slightly flexible with your dates.

If you aren't comfortable waiting, you could always book an economy seat now and then upgrade with either miles or cash in a few weeks if no reward seats become available. You won't get charged a change fee to do this, just either the cash upgrade price or the extra cash for the change to an economy upgradable fare and then the extra taxes if miles seats are available.

I used my miles to book upperclass to Barbados this May. I made the booking in January of this year. The booking staff were very helpful and went through all the available options/dates.
Just ring up and try to book, If seat are not yet available I'm sure they'll advise you what to do.

February is quite a different time to May for BGI though. February is a very popular month due to the warm temperatures compared to the lows over here, where as May the UK temps are higher and BGI is close to it's rainy season.

It's a bit like wanting to fly to MCO at Easter or August, the airlines are clever and reduce, or even completely cut, the amount of reward seats on each flight during the busy periods, which is why booking early is essential if you want to be certain of a miles seat.
