Our disembarkation was held up 45 mins on arrival at LAS.. a group travelling in pe downstairs was so abusive to crew the captain arranged an official welcome for them. I was in pe upstairs totally unaware until the announcement was made. Does this happen often? Anyone any idea what is likely to happen to these idiots.. the announcement did add that vs was unlikely to be honouring the return part of their ticket. Ps the crew were, as with most vs flights, excellent.

Blimey - what is it about the LAS route that creates such stories?

(Alcohol?)

I wonder if crew actively try and avoid getting allocated that route on their rota..

It's people that drink, so I'll go for the people who travel the route - not all of course, but it obviously attracts enough of a certain type.

With 2 x BA and 1 x VS direct flights, Vegas is rapidly becoming a more mainstream 'boozy long weekend' destination for Brits, with associated embarrassing behaviour.

I can only see it going downhill from here sadly.

Oh joy... Trying this route for 1st time in Sept from MAN. Luckily on G's. But still expect a high velour and fake LV bag count. Hopefully UC restrictions on sensible requests for drinks won't be too restrictive....
Flying direct from MAN and finding G's was too good an opportunity to miss...

1. A rather assertive interview with the LAS police for starters I'd imagine. If actually arrested then having to apply for a viaa rather then just an ESTA should they wish to visit the US again in future. A large fine and / or prison should they be taken to court and found guilty.

2. Having to pay for a flight home (should VS ban them) is not going to be cheap for a one-way walk-up fare (I can't see these people being clever enough to buy a return and discard the MAN-LAS portion!) and travel insurace very unlikely to refund them.

BTW lots of asumptions that booze was involved. People can be obnoxious without it !

Stag or hen parties may be. I think the interiors of planes on that route suffer most damage, whenever I have been to MCO and broken seats have been an issue usually the planes previous route was LAS. To be honest I have noticed Vegas has got a little "rough" in recent years, visited Bellagio and there were masses of tanked up women in flimsy cheap clothing getting more tanked up. Thank goodness for the MO and Wynn.
My LV is real just in case anyone sees me ; )

Lol funny
But true as tontybear said some people can be obnoxious without alcohol too.

I thought the airline that brought you in was responsible to taking you out of the country if denied entry by immigration. Assuming the passengers had purchased return tix, would VS have to refund them? Or are there T&C's that would mean the pax forfeit the money on account of their alleged behavior?

That is the normal procedure for those denied admission to a country due to incorrect documentation (as well as fine to the airline) but in this case I don't think that would apply.

I'm sure there is something buried in the T&Cs on this to stop VS refunding them

And for the LAS Police to charge them and take them to court they would have to be immigration cleared which would then absolve VS of any responsibility to get them home.

Not especially often, but more often than you might think. Heathrow police probably attend an aircraft a day on average, but for various reasons, not just obnoxious pax.

A lot of flights coming from the US end up being diverted to Shannon with an appearance of the miscreant the following day in Ennis District Court where they may be severely fined, or if the offence warrants it, detained and sent to the Criminal Court. The judiciary over here takes a serious stance on such behaviours, which are generally alcohol and/or drugs related, because of passenger safety.
