Hi all,

It has been a while since i have been on here and I am after some insight into the A340 used on the Dubai route from Heathrow, I am traveling upper both ways can anyone tell me what the service is like and if the flat beds are the new ones and the entertainment system. Also this is my first night flight so should I eat in the club house or on board? should I sleep as soon as i am on board what do other people do?
This is my first flight alone normally travel with my wife who is a seasoned traveller.

Thanks for your help.

If its an A340 you won't get the very latest upper class seat and IFE. You'd be unlucky not to get AVOD though, only 3 of the fleet haven't got that feature.

The A330's have the latest seat and IFE.

As its a short night flight, I would eat a full meal in the clubhouse and then bed down after take off.

Also, according to the PDF on the bottom of the link below, on board meal service is a little more brief than normal with just the express options so you'll probably find the lounge has more choice.

Thanks Clarkeysntfc,

Now that I read your reply I should have gone out Premium and back upper, never mind you live and learn.
Do you know when Virgin will up date the fleet on this route? as I might be using it a lot in the near future, also any plans to put an A380 on this route when they arrive?

Thanks again

The A343s seem to plying this route until October, the A333s are then planned to operate it then but as always, subject to change.

In terms of the UC service on the VS400. It is dine express which is a drink after take off with crisps, a choice of starter and main course and then dessert OR cheese plate. The breakfast service is pastries, juices, chicken sausage sandwich, fruit and cereals.

The return VS401 is the full affair, drinks after takeoff, full lunch service, cheese trolley and then later afternoon tea - a good selection of graze options too.

I usually eat in the Clubhouse especially if sleep is critical........ ): Enjoy the flights and let us know how you get along.
