Rachel
I realise it is posted Behind The Curtain in The Clubhouse section of these boards. That's only accessible to paying members of V-flyer. The post itself is entitled "A sight to gladden a V-Flyers eyes!" as it includes a screenshot of four purple sectors on a single booking.

It looks like you are signed up as a silver V-Flyer member so you should be able to see it.

I'd PM Neil as I recall some members have had trouble getting "behind the curtain" in the past.

Goodluck though and perhaps report back and let us know how you get on?

Hi gfonk I have been looking into all possible ways to get a friend into UC for our flight to CA in Feb and was looking at Combi Fares but it says they cannot be used for UC.

Did you book a Z and a M or S then upgrade to the G?

Many thanks
Dominic

Hi
I called up VS reservations and originally wanted to book PE rtn and upgrade to Gs. I was told at the time that I could get a Z and upgrade an EC ticket to a G (apologies I dont remember which class in EC the ticket was ?| )

@hull

No probs. Let us know how you get on.
Next time I book a flight I will be looking for Gs and try to be more patient that just booking when VS tell me there are no Gs available. Having read some of the recent threads it seems that Gs dont necessarily become available all at T-330. Anyway as I said before the price was within my budget and I didnt want to miss the chance so just booked. I think I might have just contradicted myself but you know what I mean.

I've done a dummy booking for this Xmas, I ended up having to leave on 29th Dec and it took 4 days to get to SYD, waiting for a G to be available from HKG to SYD. Then home I had to buy the last leg or risk being stuck in HKG for 2 weeks. To be honest taking into account the hassle factor I think I may just buy the tickets with actual money.

I think the airmiles may be better used if my hubby and I can take a term time short break somewhere (minus child), maybe NYC or Vegas.

As a regular on the busier HKG route I agree with the advice you've been given.

However, on this route, more than others, more UC reward seats tend to open up 6-7 days before the flight so do start intensive checking with a couple of weeks to go.

Generally, on the day miles upgrade chances are good; particularly mid week - but as always, arrive early.

That said, they are particularly strict about PE fare codes on this route so if you buy discounted PE 'K' do expect to have to pay a ton of money to improve it to an upgradable PE class, even before spending your miles.
