Please forgive me a I expect this question has been asked many times before.
I will be flying for the first time with Virgin in January LHR-MIA returning in February LAX-LHR both flights in PE.

When can I book seats and is there a charge?

Can these seats be changed by Virgin staff before check in? If so is it best to wait until check in and see what is available?

Are people flying on the same booking reference seated next to each other?

Hi - you can selec your seats 90 days before each leg, there isn't a charge to do this.

It is a seating request, and there are some circumstances in which VS may need to change your seats, although this is rare and it is still worth selecting some in advance in my opinion.

They do the best they can to seat all travelling parties together, of course that isn't always fully possible, and while some parties could end up being split again this is rare and the airport team do a very good job a trying to make it work for everyone on the a/c

Welcome to V-Flyer :)

You can pre-book your seats, but currently only from 90 days before your flight date. There is no charge to do this (in any cabin on VS)

The seats can change due to operational reason such as aircraft changes etc. Seat selection is only a ever a request. Often the seat you select before your flight is indeed the one you will be sat in on the day

VS dont automatically assign seats at the T-90 days point so it's down to you to select them, so you you can sit where ever you want, as long as it's in the cabin you have paid for!!

Thank you both for your prompt replies. One less thing to worry about.

Hope I have made the right decision to fly Virgin. Chose it over BA for the reviews of the seats in PE.

Welcome! I think the general consensus is that PE is ahead of WTP, although BA is closing the gap.

Incidentally, to secure your requested seats, you need to check in online at least 13 (?) hours before the flight from LHR. This is a VS oddity. Obviously you are still not absolutely guaranteed them at that point, but if you check in ASAP you give yourself the best chance to keep your seats or to choose the best of what remains if you are shifted.

Have a good flight!
