Hi

I habitually use the web browser add in to get as many miles as possible from Shops Away. However, isn't there always one, I am having a bit of an issue with the information provided on the addon and the informtion if you go through the VA web site.

Essentially, I tend to use Expedia or Ebookers to source flights for non-VA destinations and the last two bookings done this way have not appeared as points. So sent in a missing miles claim to be told that flights booked through these two sites are no longer eligable for points. This appears to be a change done late last year and canonly be seen through the web site

OK, I understand things change but there is no notification on the 'Click this link to earn' panel that shows saying there are restrictions - in fact it states quite clearly that I can earn points on flights, hotels and more.

I have raised this to Virgin missing miles people, and they have now fobbed me off and told me to contact the Virgin Service centre who deal with web problems.

So, to get some sort of resolution - and whilst I would love the points I assume there is a bit of small print that tells me that they can change anything at any time without notification - all I really want is for them to fix the addin. After all it does not say refer to specific T&Cs anywhere.

So - where should I send the issue to next? I suspect there are probably other clicks that are actually not going to earn points even though it does not say so. All it needs to do is refer to offer T&Cs.

Not sure which browser you're using, but on Safari, when you click the link it takes you to the shops entry on ShopsAway where it gives any exclusions etc.

just above the Shop Now button on the Expedia page it says

Special Terms:
Purchases of flights are ineligible for customer rewards. Rewards will not be earned on purchases that include a voucher code.

and on the Ebookers page

Special Terms:
Purchases of or including airfare or car rentals are ineligible for customer rewards. Customer earns reward when hotel stay is completed rather than booked

Well - I ave tried it in Firefox, IE and Safari (all windows versions) and the same happens in each case. No exclusions shown - and interestingly Safari does the same it does not take me to the shop entry on ShopsAway - which would be acceptable behaviour.

The most annoying thing is the lost miles because of a change that is not notified to anyone solely using the addin - in my experience anyay.

There is an arguement that says that Virgin have an obligation to display any relevant T&Cs by whatever route is used to access the offers and points.

Still interested in emailing someone higher up the food chain to point out the flaw.

Oh well - only near 5000 points lost this way.

I used it in Safari, and I generally get the FC miles within a month or two of making a transaction.

TBH I never robustly chase up as I haven't made a high value purchase, I see the miles more as a brucie bonus.
