I was an UC passenger yesterday and for the first time ever CC refused to serve further alcohol at the bar to two passengers. As I was enjoying their company I offered to vouch for them as their behaviour seemed fine to me. Cabin crew took me aside and said " you haven't seen how much champagne they have had Sir please don't get involved but did you want anything?"

All well handled, a shame for the pax concerned but left me wondering how CC judge "enough is enough"

I guess that is their job to make a call, probably ultimately made by the CSS or FSM. I have seen it happen a couple of times before, and they have to ensure the safety and comfort of all the pax.

Cabin Crew have the right to "refuse Alcohol based on consumption not just behaviour" as is stated during the onboard safety message.

A difficult call to make as everyone reacts differently to Alcohol (I just need to sleep) others may get aggressive when cut off.

I have never seen it used before.

Out of interest which flight was it? was it one of the Vegas or Cancun flights that VS were restricting Alcohol on? as covered in a previous thread

That thread didn't refer to alcohol being limited on the Cancun flights, only the Vegas flights (or I missed the reference)...

I must admit I haven't re read it but seem to recall reference to the Vegas and Cancun routes being referred to as "Party Routes" (maybe I got it wrong)

I'm very glad to hear that crew do take action. Coming back from JNB one night, I was one of four people at the bar, enjoying a very quiet drink (people were sleeping) and when one 'lady' found out that I worked in the airline business (not for VS) she started berating me about how poor service was becoming, how high fares were getting, and how she would run the industry if she was allowed to. She was getting louder and louder, and the crew kept filling her glass. Eventually, I left my drink and went to bed, where I could still hear here from 2A....
