Morning!

A couple of G's available both on our outbound and inbound dates for Barbados next year - I have formed a plan but thought it was worth sounding out in case anyone has any bright ideas of a better scenario. This is the plan:

Outbound: Cheapest available (K) Premium Economy fare
Inbound: Cheapest upgradable Economy (M) fare, upgrade with miles to G.

This would cost 50,000 miles in total for the two of us and around £1000 each. Is this sensible or am I missing anything? This would be the first time we have upgraded with VS miles as only done partner rewards before.

Don't really have enough miles to get the G's both ways so was really thinking flat bed is more use for the night flight. Just have to miss out on the clubhouse :(

Any advice much appreciated.
Counting down the days already!

Personally I'd book the G going outward as you'll have more of the UC experience given it's a day flight :)
The lounge at Grantly Adams is basic so you won't miss much and BGI isn't a massively long flight ,even overnight , and given there's no Revivals facility at LGW you won't be missing out on that either.
I think using M fares is a good use of miles- the K fare might be cheaper too ex non UK.
Just my thoughts though- I'm sure others will have differing views.
Enjoy your trip regardless :) .

Agree with DL on this one ,the UC experience is far more enjoyable on day flights and the crew aren't looking to get everything done as quick as poss to allow for sleep, you should still be able to get a reasonable nap in PE

I would also go with the UC on the outbound leg for all the reasons as described above.

The other option to consider, and it ultimately depends on how many miles you have or are likely to have, price up an S PE fare upgraded to UC with miles you already have, this would allow you to fly UC both ways. Or maybe an M/S if you have enough for 37,500 miles each.

Yes it will cost more, but worth looking at if you are interested in UC both ways.

Thanks for the responses - all of your advice regarding UC outbound much appreciated! Will have to ponder that for a while then!
If the A333's have one thing in their favour it's surely the increased availability of Upper Class rewards!

Done it - bit the bullet, grabbed two G's both ways upgraded from M and S fare. Let the countdown begin!
As an aside, I notice that Barbados is scheduled only as x7 per week next year as opposed to anything between 7 and 11 times per week this year, for that time of year.
