probably obvious question - rewards

Sorry for the probably obvious question but still quite new to this. I want to book flights to jfk or iad using miles in PE. This costs 55,000 miles. I have 49,000 in my account and my son has 48,000 in his. I'm hoping to transfer some of his miles to pay for these flights, but before I do that and pay the £67 to transfer miles is there a way of checking reward PE availability?

(As I don't have the full miles in my account yet I can't seem to check PE reward availability and I don't want to pay for the transfer, then find out there are no reward seats.)

you can still check reward availability on VS website even if you dont have enough miles, just do a dummy miles booking

if the reward date/flight is available it should come up, but will say you dont have enough miles to complete

You may also want to consider just buying the extra 6k miles you need, rather than transferring them, which is almost as expensive as buying them all over again. You may find you want another 55k for a future upgrade sooner than you think!
