Hi,
Could anyone advise me on this? I am flying LHR-LAX Upper Class on a 340-600. I have checked the cabin baggage dimensions on VA's site. I have a Samsonite Cosmolite Spinner, it is 2cm to long!! Will I get this in the overhead lockers? Through the X-ray machine?
I know it is slightly too big but I fly a fair bit and it astounds me the size of some luggage that people manage to get onboard as 'Cabin Baggage'
Many thanks for any help.
Cheers. Barney.

I've never had my cabin baggage checked when flying VS, so fairly sure you will have no problem getting on the plane. As to whether it will fit, someone else will have to answer that as I've only flown on a 340-600 once and didn't take cabin baggage.

Hi and welcome,

You will not have any problems, it will fit in/through everything [maybe the exception being the steel cage measure next to check-in] --- I have traveled 60+ times on VS 340-600s, have had my luggage checked twice about 3 years ago when they appeared to have a little purge on, since then never been asked/checked and my cabin bag is slighly larger than yours :D

You should be fine with that on the A346's. The bins are quite large on the Airbus, it's just that there's less of them as there are no bins overhead the middle row of seats in the Upper cabin.

The only overhead bins that are considerably smaller are those on the upper deck of the 747's

Well given you're travelling UC, I'd be very surprised if you had issues. There are some pretty sizeable wardrobes/cupboards in addition to to overheads, I usually put my (big) suit carrier in there!

Hi Barney, I'm with ratechaser on this one. Put it in one of the UC wardrobes.

You won't have any probs getting it past the UC desks... like everyone else I have seen my fair share of kitchen sinks and washing machine sized cases being snuck into the cabin ii)

I am always asked to "pop my bag on the scales" at LGW. It really doesn't look big and there is about 8kg in it, soft sided, within linear limit. Nowhere else has ever bothered. They call me "Lucky". :)

I took two small carry ones plus a manbag and even at NRT had no trouble.
My missus carry ons were quite big but again no probs.
I think 2cm over shouldn't be a prob tbh. If travelling UC.

Related question: I'm flying UC to LAS in April. Is it true I can take one of those suit bag thingies with me as hand luggage and the CC will hang it up for me? If so, it'd be a result as I loathe creased clothes nearly as much as I loathe ironing!

Yep, just what the wardrobes are for.
