Morning all, looking for some info on the Hilton Dubai Creek.

I seem to think there has been a few v-flyers used this hotel in the past.

Looking for info on area - is it safe to walk or do you need taxis, are there some touristy stuff close by, food in hotel - expensive or not, check in - if available, do you get your room quick, transfer from airport to hotel - easy or not and anything else that might be relevant.

Only thinking of going for 4 days, so a least a couple will be spent at the pool if its doable.

Many thanks (in advance)

One of my favourite hotels of all time y)

First time to DXB we stayed here for 3 nights as we went in with Emirates on day flights outbound & return.

Nearish to the airport but that was fine by us. Beautiful transfer vehicles sent to collect us but can't remember what they were now.

Staff all very helpful & professional.

The rooftop pool was one of the deciding factors because you can be in the pool & see the sights of the Creek, & listen to the local sounds of car horns occasionally bleating & locals being called to prayer from the mosque. (Didn't notice the sounds when in our room which was fabulous with floor to ceiling windows with panoraminc views y) )

Another factor was the fantastic breakfasts :D

Final factor was the fact that there is a courtesy transfer bus to the Hilton on the beach if you fancy a dip in the sea & cold towels brought to you when you are relaxing under an umbrella etc.

The Executive Lounge is a tad small.

I wouldn't hesitate to return.

I'll be returning to DXB in June but will be staying at The Grosvenor House again for business.

Taxis are cheap. Do go to the Burj Al khalifa if time allows & then you can see the amazing aquarium as well located in the same Mall. Then that ticks of 3 things all in one day out.

Stayed there three times, which says it all.

There was never a problem in getting a room off the early morning flight into DXB. If the room wasn't ready they would allow you to go up to the pool or the dining room until it was - which was never more than an hour's delay.

R-P has said most of it. The shuttle down to the Hilton Jumeirah is great for a change of scenery but that hotel can get busy as they allow guests from other hotels pay to get into their beach area.

I love the rooftop pool and there is a snack bar there with very attentive staff.

The executive lounge is small but it does have a very nice outside area and the snacks and food there is nice if you don't want a large meal in the evening.

The hotel is a couple of blocks away from the Dubai Metro, which IIRC, goes to Burj Al Kalifa and also to the Mall of the Emirates but taxis are cheap (except from the airport as there is an airport tax before you even get into the cab!)

The last time I was there, they were building a mosque next door to the hotel. I know buns has been there since so he may be able to tell you if the call to prayer impacted on the rooms on that side of the hotel.

Definitely a favourite hotel of mine.

hi David

To add to add R-P and HL have said, the Hilton Dubai Creek is one of our favourites and would return in a heartbeat :D

Mrs Buns and I were there in January of this year and had a wonderful time - even though the weather was not the best.

The Hotel itself is in a wonderful location overlooking the Creek and is only a short distance from the Airport. It is well worth investing in an Executive grade room as this affords access to the Execuitve Lounge where you can enjot breakfast and complementary evening cocktails. Also, if you book an Executive Room you can contact the hotel beforehand and arrange for the Hotel Car to pick you up from the Airport.

The fine dining Resturant - Table 9 - is under new management and we had a wonderful meal on our final evening.

The location of the Hotel is in the old part of the city and is far away from the beach (a taxi back from the Hilton Jumerai Beach cost us 100 Drms) and you will need a cab to take to the major shopping malls as there is not that much nearby.

As to the Mosque, yes when peaople are called to prayer, it is very interesting just to see howe cars are abandoned in the middle of the road, but this passes quickly.

The staf there are brilliant and cannot do enough for you

Excellent - many thanks (and better than trip advisor ;) )

Are there any issues that we need to be aware of with regard to the local customs etc ?

thanks again

David :)

i've stayed at the hdc, the rooms are lovely, especially if you get one of the corner suites with a view towards the burj khalifa, they make towel animals too, we had a cute crocodile last time :)

it's on the same side of the creek as the airport, so airport transfers are fast, they gave us a freebie in one of the hotel cars last time we were there

the hotel bar is a bit depressing, but they often are in dubai, imho it's better to stock up at the arrivals duty free at DXB, it's very convenient, has a good selection and usually is a bit cheaper than LHR duty free

the hdc rooftop pool is ok, but a bit cramped, whether it's the 'best' place to stay really depends what else you are doing while in dubai and whether you want hhonors points or not

the gold souk isn't far from the hdc, and you can go for a trip on the creek,

the burj khalifa is worth a visit, if you want to go up it, do book online in advance, btw the observation floor is about halfway up, not at the top; the giant fishtank in the mall is worth a look, and you can shop until long after you are ready to drop

if you'll be there thursday night, that's the one to avoid travelling on, traffic jams can be awful as people head out for the local weekend

i'm hilton diamond, but often use the fourpoints downtown (other side of the creek) simply because the rooftop pool area is much roomier, the rooms aren't up to the hdc but are still good and very spacious, there's a convenience store around the corner and the burjuman mall is a 10 minute walk through backstreets

btw if you want sun, avoid the intercontinental at festival city, lovely hotel, great dinner buffet, nowhere near enough sunbeds!

dubai is safe for walking, i've never even heard of trouble, let alone encountered any, as mentioned above, taxis are cheap!
