I'm looking to book UC seats on VS040 from Chicago to LHR.

I've read online that the A340-300 planes that are operated on this route are looking a bit worse for wear lately and have not been renovated recently? And that the IFE is the old-style rather than the Vera system?

Any advice? I could fly from JFK instead, and that sounds like it might be a better choice?

Thanks for any input!

Hmmm, not sure a couple of hours in a Clubhouse and a better IFE system (on a night flight when chances are you'll be in bed anyway) are worth £350 but it's your choice!

Of the three 343s remaining in the fleet, two have the old-style Vera Reel IFE and if you get one, they'll give you a tablet to watch films should you so desire.

Apart from that, there's nothing inherently wrong with them.

If you go to JFK then there's a good chance of UCDS whereas the A343s have the much better suite ... yes they're older but still very comfortable IMO.
