I'm planning my holiday next Feb:
I have the tickets out on VS27.
I have booked one night in the Hyatt Regency in Orlando International.
I need to book a night at Gatwick.
I usually do the Hilton to walk through, but if Virgin have moved by next Feb I'll go for Sofitel to avoid having to use the train link.
Anyone have any insider info?
And does the Sofitel have an equivalent of the Hilton Executive lounge?

there's the "club lounge" at sofitel LGW, unless it's changed i feel the exec lounge in the hilton is much better

i've not had breakfast in either to compare, usually check out way before the lounge is open!

There are some bits about the potential for a move to North, but they all seem to link back to a FT article hiding behind the paywall.

If they did move, there would need to be a lot of work done in North as it's pretty depressing. I went through there in March and even on a weekday there were long queues for the toilets. Imaging what it would be like in Summer with 2x MCO flights, Barbados, Cancun, Vegas etc...

It was just some speculation about what might happen if Easyjet - LGW's largest customer - were to move all its flights to the North Terminal.

The thinking was BA would then move to the South, and VS to the North.

But given the amount of investment BA & VS have put into their respective facilities at LGW in recent years, it does seem quite unlikely. BA, after all, had a huge hand in designing the recent extension to the North Terminal - would they really be prepared to move after that?

So I understand, but I want to avoid the inter-terminal train.
We will be travelling with 4 cases so the shortest walk from hotel to terminal is what I'm after.
Fingers crossed they'll be 30kg each.

Won't you be utilising twilight check-in at LGW?
Bag problem solved.
