Groups booking - Any experiences

Hi all,

I'm shopping around for some flights for a large group (60) to HKG later in the year. Thought I'd give VS a go as I always fly with them. Has anyone had any experience with their groups department? Do they offer any sort of incentives for large bookings?

You'll be surprised how expensive it can be, when I shopping about it last year all the airlines were at least £200 more than the cheaper economy fares, but you do get a lot of flexibility
Only a deposit to book with the balance due about 6 weeks before
You don't even have to give names until that time.
For me we ended up booking with Air china from LGW-HKG via Beijing at about £700 each but could of got the same flights for £420 if I could of persuaded everyone to pay up front
As luck would have it air china cancelled the gatwick to beijing flight and offered us heathrow flights but with an overnight stop
As I had collected all the money I declined and got a refund for the deposits and booked with virgin at £600 each
So all perfect in the end

Just gave them a call - £770 per Economy ticket. Cathay came in at £660 - so quite a lot more, but I guess it's down to budget!
