As I mentioned, I'm not trying to fuel any fire. It's just inappropriate to characterize an entire country (i.e. America, England, whatever) with gross stereotypes, which the poster did.

I'm just surprised that sort of dialogue is tolerated here.

The post was entirely tongue in cheek and was not intended to cause offence to anyone.

Four, that's 50%, of our closest friends are American, and one of them is from Texas.

I think you missed the satire and irony, not least in the use of the term 'limey' which often causes offence to the British of a certain age, and the reference to Mary Poppins; an American film, about the English in London, created entirely in Burbank, and with lots of very fake cockney accents.

Whilst, both America, the United Kingdom and every other country probably have 'chavs', 'hicks' and 'morons', not terms that I would use myself, it's impossible to characterise an entire Nation in anyway except, possibly, for the English and our love of afternoon tea.

Please tell me you're not a Brit making fun of an American dialect - or implying that Americans are lazy. As someone who spends time on both sides of the Atlantic (and is a dual national of the UK/US), I can assure you that chav British tourists are far worse than the worst that America has to offer. Especially in their pseudo-cockney-rhyming-trash-not-from-london accent.
