Hello
Looking for a few ideas to help with the planing of a future trip (Dec 2015) to Barbados.

It will be myself, the other half and our little one (2 plus)

Looking to book flights as soon as they are avx, which will be Jan 2015, at the stage I expect to have around 150K miles and the other half will have a much smaller amount. (We use both the Amex charge card, which gives miles plus bonus miles and the Virgin Black Card, as well as a little help from Tesco)

Have never used any of the companion flights etc with the cards

Planing to do 1 UC and 2 PE both ways to give each us time to look after the little one (travelled with a Niece in Upper last year and those seats are wasted on toddlers!) using Miles, however looking like we will probably be a bit short on miles.

Any other suggestions on how to ticket this journey.

Also if anyone has any recommendations for accommodation that would be nice, prefer self catering, stayed at Oceans 2 last time and found that to be excellent.

Thanks

It depends when in December you are travelling - if around Christmas then you might be pushed to get reward seats in any class.

What sort of accommodation are you looking for in Barbados? If you are looking at Self Catering, then Oceans 2 was in a really good location but you could also try Bougainvillea which is not as convenient for places to walk to. I stay at Coral Mist, but it is not as high a level of quality as Oceans 2. There's Coral Sands, which is on a lovely beach at Worthing, but not sure if their rooms accommodate children. Some of the ocean front suites at Southern Palms have kitchen facilities. The only other place I can think of would be South Beach but that is across the road from Rockley beach. No sure if Accra Beach has any rooms with SC facilities, don't think it does.

I'd thoroughly recommend Glitter Bay for accommodation. They are individual apartments within an old hotel complex, on one of the best beaches in Bim. There's a small cafe style restaurant, which serves delicious food (although only at lunch time) & a bar which closes at sunset. The complex is 5 minutes drive from Holetown, has a lovely pool & kids pool & is generally fab!
