Flying VA Manchester to Las Vegas at the end of July and booked ourselves the economy seats upstairs. Just me and the wife so "quiet" isn't an issue. Can anybody confirm if it is THAT just different from flying economy in the main cabin.

Flying on a jumbo previously we used to think you could feel the plane wobble from side-ti-side as the wheels left the runway (side winds hitting the sheer height of the aircraft). Anybody else notice this and related to my previous question, anymore noticeable (if at all) upstairs ?

Hi Mike
Not exactly sure what you're asking, but the upstairs cabin does have a quieter feeling both due to the fact that there are fewer passengers up there and also that you're further away from the engines. Can't comment on economy up there specifically but you have the added benefit of the side lockers as well as the overhead ones so more space to stow your stuff too :)

Personally if fly in Y on a 747 I always go for the upper deck. I find its better service and quieter. The biggest plus however is that you are one of the first off the aircraft meaning you get through security faster. As for the ride not really noticed any difference. The back of the aircraft is generally the 'rockiest'. One plus side of the LGW 747's is that you have a storage bin between the seat and window on the upper deck which is handy.
