For instance on a number of flights, where I sit quietly watching the IFE, and occasionally pop up for a glass of red, some staff will pour a finger into the glass. Others will pour it to a finger below the rim. I'd have to pop up to get refills 4-5 times on the former, but once on the later.
I've also found that ex heathrow was much more prone to be watching your consumption, even with wine (personally if anyone was knocking back the whisky in massive quantity, I'd be watching them as well, you can consume so much more of that before it hits you).
It's been better recently, though.
On my last PE to MCO I had a pre meal red wine. I was offered it in a wine glass, or tumbler which would hold more and be steadier. I chose the tumbler and it was quite full. As already mentioned Mrs. D had bubbly which wasn't on offer but they were happy to oblige her request.
