Reward availability LHR > HKG

Just a quick query as I haven't seen it mentioned too often recently, but does anyone know what VS rewards availability to Hong Kong is like currently? We're looking for different ways to spend our miles on longer haul flights, and as west coast US flight rewards are rare as hen's teeth, we're considering a trip to Singapore next year. It's pretty hard (if not impossible) to redeem Virgin FC miles for business or upper redemptions on Singapore Airlines on their direct LHR > SIN route. However, I was thinking maybe doing an UC reward to HKG and then catching a shorter EC flight on to SIN with a different airline.

Availability is good, its opened up a bit since Sydney has been dropped, why Singapore - shopping, beach, sightseeing?
Have you considered open jaw Shanghai and Hong Kong, fly into Shanghai early morning, loads to do and see, cultural, shopping, entertainment and foodwise, after 4 days fly down to Hong Kong on a regional carrier [I prefer Dragonair, but most carriers have new aircraft] spend 3 days in Hong Kong and a week on a beach on one of the islands.
However if Singapore is your prefered destination you can still go via Shanghai on the way out, back via Hong Kong --- it will add less than £200 to your trip for a 3 centre holiday.

International Hitman, thank you, that's all great to know! Our destination will definitely be Singapore this time. It will predominantly be a business trip; we went a couple of years ago and decided it would be a good place to go to again, but I do have family in Hong Kong that we'd love to visit (perhaps on the way back, when we can relax a bit). That's fantastic to know regarding Shanghai because it's possible we may end up heading over there for work, too. I'm very keen to find places where reward availability is good because I don't think my nerves can take trying to book an SFO/LAX UC upgrade!! Looking at VS's news online booking tool it seems like lots of PE availability to HKG is available, but it's very slim on UC... hoping that perhaps more will open up when I've managed to accrue the required miles

When I booked my Gs to HKG in November a month or so back there was availability practically every day. Now there seems to be very little so I obviously struck lucky. Just keep checking.
