Hi gang,

Quick question on the V-Flyer seating map. I'm looking at using my miles to upgrade myself and mrs chilled to UC on the outbound flight (LGW-CUN) in Oct this year. The availability looks pretty good, and fingers crossed, I hope to get it without any hassle. The only problem being, when I check out the seats on the free app I have for expert flyer, it shows a totally different configuration to what this forums config tell me. EF says UC has 1-5 A&K, 12-19 A&K, then 20-25 ADG&K. Our V-Flyer seating map says I can expect the 747 Config LGW-1, which only has about a dozen seats in UC. It's the same for coming back, but I'll probably not use the rest of my miles and save them for something next year.

I'm not sure if EF is wrong or we have old info on the forum here. But if anyone could explain which one is as close as we can expect, then I'd be more confident about spending all those hard earned miles in one swoop.

Thanks in advance friends,

AC.

Most LGW 747 flights use the LGW config with the small 14-seat UC cabin.

However VS do sometimes substitute an LHR 747 due to maintenance, which has the config you're seeing on EF. Quite a few flights seem to be using an LHR 747 over the next month or two, so yours may well be among them.

Have you checked Manage My Booking on the Virgin website? The seat map there will be the correct one.

I've been prepping in advance of booking as I want to make sure we'll be close to each other and not on opposite sides of the cabin. So I have not booked just yet. But that info you've just told me may well be the reason for the big change in the seating plan. So thank you for your speed reply filled with golden info.

G-VROS.....

Is there a specific LHR aircraft being used to fill the gap, or does this vary? I'm due to fly this route in about 2 weeks time and seat maps for both flight legs show LHR config. Presently there are more than 14 UC seats (typical LGW load) reserved for both legs and flightstats still shows lots of availability... so I’m guessing a LHR config is guaranteed?

It can be any of the LHR 747s. I guess whichever can be freed up from its rotation when needed. It won't be needed every day.

I am flying the week before you MoJoJo and my reservation shows the LGW 747 (it would be great if it was VROS please scheduler!!!)
