And why they are so wasteful and non-environmentally friendly. After all flying an empty 346 to FLL and then after their return back to London must a) cost a fortune and b) spew out loads of unnecessary CO2. What, after all, is wrong with scheduled flights. If this were a business, they wouldn't put all of their executive team on the same flight anyway.

To be honest it's probably not completely empty. A roster has 50+ people plus coaches, trainers, medical staff and video staff. Then, they must transport all their equipment as well for a team of very large men. This equates to around 150 people for every away game. Might not be any more empty than any other given flight.

Interstingly, I saw an article that said how one team puts the larger linemen in first class and everyone else gets one and a half seats. Hah!

Either way, publicity for Virgin is SRBs way.

Interesting article by the Miami Herald explaining the huge logistics exercise involved in transporting the team to London.
The time it takes to check in all the luggage and the substantial amount of equipment.they have to carry.
Wouldn't fancy the practice session they have scheduled after an overnighter either, unless I'd travelled in UC.
They are departing swiftly after the game with all the equipment staying behind and hopefully catching up with them later in the week!

The point is that the aircraft has to get from London to FLL completely empty to fetch the team and FLL to London completely empty to drop them off.

I suspect when you add all the journalists and entourage that accompany the team it would have been a pretty full flight.

Much easier to charter a plane than try and find seats here and there on scheduled flights.

Yes, even though she probably went out empty, much easier to charter the whole plane.
By the time you add the team, management, coaches, medics, media, family members, equipment and luggage you'll have a pretty full plane.
Wouldn't want the job of sorting out the logistics involved sending everyone/everything scheduled.
Same in reverse on Sunday evening I guess and again when the Raiders decide to depart.
All revenue and good advertising for VS, but I totally get the comment on emissions. Unfortunately, it's probably not top of the list of NFL worries.

Should not forget that VS is one of the corporate sponsors of the International Series of the NFL (I am sure the winner of the recent competiton will enjoy the VS hospitality on Sunday )

So there are two more Games this year - one at the end of October and one in early November.

As the September Game will be "hosted" by Atlanta, I am sure we will see plenty of VS product placement
