VS21 to IAD on Monday 6th October...

I am heading to Washington next Monday for a short business trip. Any fellow V-Flyers heading the same way? Nothing showing on the Itinerary Calendar but just thought I'd check as would be great to say hello...

Sadly, as this is a business trip, I shall be turning right this trip I had a glimmer of hope this afternoon - I called the FC and was told yes, I had an upgradable fare class and yes, there were reward seats in PE outbound and UC inbound. The nice chap said he had to put me thru to UC sales to get a price and wished me a nice flight. A short while later, he was back on the line, full of apologies for getting my hopes up but I couldn't upgrade as the flight had not been booked directly with VS but via an agent. Oh well, he did sell me extra leg room seats on both sectors so not all bad...

He's right I'm afraid, you can only use miles to upgrade on flights booked directly with VS (or in some circumstances Virgin Holidays).

It's worth asking at the airport on the day though - anything can happen and all the rules go out the window if there are still empty seats, particularly at the US airports.
