Me again :|

I'm going to the Romance Writers of America conference in July next year in NY. I know Virgin have just recently had a sale and I was wondering what the likelihood was of them having another one before I go or do you suggest I book now?

There'll almost certainly be one over Christmas.

Whether it includes your preferred date, flight and cabin is another matter.

One ATM isn't that great but the January sale is normally pretty good :) Nobody can predict when a sale will pop up but normally ATM when one ends a new one comes. For NYC there was a fairly recent one for £1500 return in upper so I'd be patient and wait IMHO. East coast sales are the most popular

I'm looking to book US flights for July too for a Wedding..the last sale only went up to Easter if I remember correctly so I think the next one will include July. There is almost definitely going to be a sale around Xmas either after Xmas or in the new year.

Just out of interest, I compared prices in the current sale with what I paid two weeks ago for exactly the same flight without any sale. The sale price is £76.40 HIGHER! Virgin's sale prices are the same as with any other businesses holding a sale: the sale prices only apply to some items, whilst other items may be more expensive. Something we all need to be aware of. Waiting for the sales may not be a wise option, particularly if you're not fully flexible about dates and destinations.

What "Current Sale" are you referring too? 2 weeks ago there was a sale (ended Nov 12th) on but not now as far as I am aware!

TBH, I just followed a link from one of the many emails that I get from various travel agents. This one said that there was a VS sale, but admittedly it didn't say anything about a sale on the VS website. Sorry if my message was misleading - but the tickets for our trip to Barbados in January were still quite a bit cheaper just two weeks ago. It's all a bit of a lottery as to whether or not you're getting the best deal.

I just spotted the date of the sale you referred to. Perhaps I coincidentally booked our tickets during that sale without knowing about it. I booked them on 11 November.

Ah ok, thought you maybe knew about another sale I didnt!! Seems fairly likely you booked your flights in the last sale hence them being more expensive now.

Thanks for your replies guys. Looks like I'll be better off hanging on for a bit. Who knows, maybe Virgin will join in with the black Friday madness. I'll certainly be checking! :P
