Just curious if people have noticed an improvement in ELR and exit row seat occupancy since the new seat reservation system came into force? Previously these could only be assigned at the airport or over the phone but now they are more easily booked online for a small supplement over and above the standard seat reservation fee (and free for VS AU). I often used to see empty ELR and exit seats but haven’t flown VS for a while and wondered if more people were now paying for them and occupancy was up?

From the 2 MCO flights I have booked I would say yes. My december flight already has 6 exit row seats taken (2 by me) and 2 extra leg room seats taken.

Its hard to tell though as these seats were always blocked out on the old map. But exit row seats are now cheaper- the are prices the same as extra leg room seats, they used to cost more.

I had prebooked 3 seats in the bubble, but decided to try and upgrade to the exit seats in row 75. I could only get them outbound, as both sides taken inbound and I specifically want the bubble as it is quieter and nicer. I could have had exit seats downstairs, but chose to stay where I was, but there are still plenty of seats upstairs which surprises me.

i booked ELR seats - was going to book the exit seats but the T&C's for the exit said they are not guaranteed.

Im looking to upgrade to PE when rewards get released & I was told I can have my ELR seats refunded.
