Ok guys forgive me for a rant..

I've been flying with Virgin for a long time and had my gold card now for 5 years and probably taken a silly amount of flights in my time.. I've done this as I genuely love the service I get but today is the first time I've ever thought boy your really are useless..

I fly mainly with work and most of the time I fly on corporate rates which includes limos. Ive never had a problem before but this time when I tried to book my limo they refused to go past 75 miles even if I pay the difference which work is happy for me to do! I live near manchester and due to flying back on VS26 at 8pm I have no way of getting back that night besides a car.

Their suggestion was, and I quote, we could drive you to Birmingham airport or station and then get another car or train from there!! When I asked how I might do that given Virgin trains are all cancelled due to engineer works, they gave me tristars number who are the car company who would take me there from heathrow! So I was like erm.. I can't pay you to drive all the way but I can arrange a second car with the same company to pick me up there and pay for it..yes was the answer as apparently it's now against their rules!!..

I've tried a few times to call in and getting same answer! If you reading this Virgin get a grip or I'm
Off to the darkside.. I'm the kinda of person you want to keep a customer and your customer service is shocking!!

Ok sorry rant over!!

Virgin don't read these boards.

But from this page in the more information section

it states

Can I travel beyond the range of the free chauffeur driven car?

In the UK, US, Shanghai, Delhi and South Africa only, it is possible to arrange for the chauffeur driven car to take you beyond these ranges. Excess charges will apply, which will be advised to you when you book your chauffeur driven car. Charges can be paid direct to the driver/chauffeur company using a credit card.

You might want to try pointing this out to them.

Seems a bit daft if true. Maybe people have been abusing it or drivers have been ignoring the 75 mile rule and they've felt the need to clamp down. But I find it hard to believe that any cab firm or driver would turn down cold hard cash for a journey extension.

Given Tristar's astronomical prices, are there not decent local cab firms that would charge similar or maybe even less for LHR-Manchester than Tristar would for LHR-75 miles? Hardly the point I know, but worth looking into maybe?

I have no idea how true this maybe, but i was told a few years ago (by a tristar driver taking me on a 109 mile journey) that due to "health and safety rules" the drivers have a limit on continuous journeys, and need to take breaks......
