My wife and I are travelling from EWR tomorrow, first time in UC, finally got enough miles for a reward flight! We are really looking forward to it but just had some questions about the airport side of things.

1) Do we just show our boarding passes to access the clubhouse?

2) If we want to but any duty free etc can we leave the clubhouse and then re enter?

3) Is there a certain amount of time before the flight you are allowed to enter the CH eg 2 hours before?

4) Is it just a case of watching the monitors for boarding and then going to the gate?

5) Assuming they do sleep suits as its a relatively short flight, when do people change into these? I would guess on the flight, but thought I would ask!

Thanks in advance for your help.

1) Yes.
2) Yes.
3) No - you can turn up any time (although not sure when the EWR CH opens, I think it services an Air China flight before the VS one. And check in is only open about 3 hours before departure IIRC).
4) They will call your flight and tell you when boarding starts.
5) There will be sleep suits - you should be offered one soon after boarding. Most people change into them straight away, before departure.

Enjoy the experience! The EWR Clubhouse is quite small and lacks windows but the staff are superb and the food and drink are good.

Enjoy the CH and have a great flight.

Yes, EWR CH is small compared to LHR but it's rather nice, we always enjoy it and as gumshoe says, the staff are extremely good.

I've always found duty free at EWR to be limited in the extreme, it's essentially just a small central oval near the gates with some spirits and some perfume but provided you're not looking for something on the scale of LHR, you'll be fine I suspect.

Have a wonderful time. :)

I have only worn a sleep suit once and that was two weeks ago.
I put it on when I put my bed down after lights out.
I just changed on the bed under the duvet.
I don't think anyone else on our flight used theirs.

Got a sleepsuit on VS44 last Saturday but I'm afraid I left it still in the wrapper under the supplied pillow for a bit of extra head padding!

Biggest size they have in sleepsuits is large and I'm finding that tough to fit into normally - but after a few Vegas buffets it was likely to be Mission Impossible for me this trip so I didn't risk the struggle followed by ripping cloth sounds :-)
