Every time I've upgraded between classes using miles I've always, without exception, had to chase to get the base class points added to my account. A glaring problem with their IT system that's been there forever.

I flew round trip LHR-DXB over the weekend upgrading PE to UC, and this morning was awarded the Premium points automatically! ^) A positive IT move for once!

Sorry to burst your positive comment bubble.

Neither of our recent flights received the base economy M fare mileage and I had to email FC to get them credited. On our outbound flight we had an IFE issue and again the promised 8k compensation miles did not appear until I emailed. Finally we booked a car via The FC. The 2 miles for each £1 spend on car hire has not appeared and to be honest I cannot be bothered to waste anymore of my time with them :(!

So for me, the IT system is not at all like say 5years ago when base miles were credited without asking. :?

Another bubble-burst here, I share Hev60's experience. :(!

Miles and tier points never show till we phone FC and I've never made a Shops Away purchase that has shown up without going through the missing miles procedure.

VS IT hamster and its gerbil colleagues need more training.

I must be the exception from reading the post, but then I am a newbie. Miles are credited to account 3-5 days after flight. AMEX miles credited to account on time. Shops away spend credited or in process of being updated.

However it does seem off logging onto the lovely VS front end and then get taken to the Flying Club page that hasn't been updated in over 8 years. Plus I find it bizarre that VS can't link my FC number to my booking and have my booking showing automatically when I log in to FC.

Most of the time it's when people upgrade to Gs that VS seem to struggle to add the miles from the original fare code normally an M , that said they did on my last flight to Boston in Dec

... and following up from my flight last Wednesday they didn't add it automatically :(

Oh well, still relatively painless via the Live Chat getting it added :)

Also missing VS miles of this variety (M-G upgrade for example) are added immediately via the "missing miles" page of the VS website.

That didn't actually work for me - but could have been because their was SFO <> SAN on the same ticket.
