Just checking my plans for 2017 and still thinking about using Atlanta airport.
The flight from Heathrow is 9.30 a.m.
It will be February so we would stay at an airport hotel the night before as I got snowed in at home once and I'd be in a right panic for a 9.30 flight.
Is it worth using DTCI?
What sort of time should I plan to arrive at the DCTI for a 9.30 flight to make best use of the clubhouse?

Hi Dick D

I was going to post a link to the trip I've just done, but I see you've already seen it.

I think the Clubhouse opens around 6.30 - 7.00 but could be slightly earlier.

I booked a taxi from the Hilton @T4 and arrived at the DTCI in a few minutes (it wasn't prebooked and took less than 4 minutes even asking to book bags straight through to MCO with a delta connection)

Think we were in the Clubhouse by about 7.15 which gave a good hour and 3/4's before booking - not as good as a LGW direct flight arriving at their clubhouse around 9 and having a good few hours to spend in there but still enough time for a breakfast or two and a glass of fizz or two ;-)

Enjoy your flight into ATL, it's a great way to get to Florida

Hi
I went to mco via jfk in August on vs3 flight departure 0930 I booked dtci for 0630 arrived approx 0620 in club house by by 0640.when I enquired about ch opening time I got conflicting times phoned a couple of times one told me 0700 on told me 0600 that's why I booked 0630 dtci to be on safe side as I say I was in ch at 0640 and already people in there having breakfast so probably 0600 is correct but not confirmed hope it helps

Thanks David and Sunseeker,
If we fly to Atlanta it will be a drive from there to South Carolina and its about 35 miles shorter than the drive up from Orlando.
Virgin web pages show 6.30 opening so I guess that should be enough time for a breakfast. I doubt we would be having alcohol at that time.
We are already booked from Gatwick to Orlando next Feb and won't make the silly mistake of having breakfast at the Hilton this time. By 2017 Gatwick lounges may be in a bit of turmoil if Virgin & BA eventually swap.

I believe that the LHR CH is advertised to open at 630am, however I have seen it open sooner if the crowd at the gate becomes restless.

Always :-P
I'd suggest arrival between 0615 and 0630, that'll give you ample time to enjoy the CH and hopefully foot traffic will be light going through security at that time of the morning.

My personal best from limo to lounge is 6 minutes... think you can beat it? ;-)

Really? :-O

It'll be 5 o'clock somewhere Dicky!

And Bucks Fizz, Bloody Mary's and Mimosa's were made for breakfast, surely? :-P

We usually take something to the hotel. If it's the Hilton then access to the Exec lounge means a couple of drinks there too in the evening. Get up at 5.30 I think I can wait to top up the Lanson until 9.15 on board.
We'll see how it goes with a couple of practice runs.

Not being a huge fan of early mornings we arrived in the CH at 08:45 last Saturday and that gave us enough time for breakfast. We were on the VS39 which left the gate at 09:40ish. More than enough time to enjoy the booze on board

Don't forget breakfast and booze aren't the only things on offer at the LHR CH. I'd be in for a severe reprimand from MrsPJH if we didn't aim for an arrival with the best chance of her nails being done, and though a haircut for me only involves a run over with the clippers I do enjoy having that done.

I'd want 3 hours minimum in there to take advantage of it.... Although the 8+ hours I had in there in August was pushing it a bit.... (5 of those were due to a delay - but being paid £1800 in vouchers for the 3 of us being in there is something i'd be more than willing to go through again )

Or would i have to look at LGW-CUN in EC and CUN-LGW in PE and then halve it?

Quite possibly a question intended for another thread? :-)
