Access to VX lounge for VS Au's flying domestically?

There seems to be some confusion as to whether VS Gold FC's can access Virgin America lounges when flying domestically in the USA. I have been given any class access, access only for being 1st Class, and no access given to me - does anyone know if there is a hard and fast rule to this point?

There seems to be different interpretations in different lounges as things stand, as the host manager decides the wind is blowing that day!

As a Gold member you will receive extra benefits when travelling with Virgin America:

Priority Check-in: As a Gold member, you can check-in at Virgin America First Class counters despite your class of travel.
Priority Baggage handling: As a Gold member, you will receive a priority label attached to your checked baggage.
Priority Boarding: As a Gold member, you will be offered where possible, priority boarding at the same time as a Virgin America Gold and Silver member.

Your post is confusing.

VA is Virgin Australia but you are asking about Virgin America which VX. I assume you mean Virgin America but please can you clarify to get the correct response.

I thought access to VX lounges was pay to enter no matter what class your ticket was?

the "VX lounges" I've been in have been VS lounges (NYC and LA and SF)
and free.

Yes I saw that too - but it makes no mention of alliance AU members of the 'family' of Virgin airlines. It implies that you cannot even buy a pass if you wanted, when flying VX in the regular cabin. (anyone in 1st or 'select' can buy one, so... no distinction for VS's valued AU's)

I've been admitted mostly for free, as a Gold VS holder, but it is a grey area for sure.

My feeling is that if you are eligible to buy a $40 day pass for access as a 1st class or 'Select' pax, but are in addition Au from VS, they waive the $40 fee.

but then again anyone who is a 'Confirmed Virgin America Elevate member' can buy a pass, even in Economy, according to my reading of those terms, so that makes it not restricted to ticket class, at all.
