I'm not sure who's heard of this, or ever used it, but Virgin trains offers a pickup and delivery service for luggage at £12.99 per item. http://p4d.co.uk/bagmagic/

I've been wondering the usage of this and when going from DUB, it might well be much better usage for the likes of me to get my bag down to Heathrow or Gatwick in advance to my hotel, and then hand baggage only the positioning and inbound flights. It's not just cost of it, it's the possible pain of losing the baggage or delays making it tight. Our honolulu one was almost messed up on the final leg (I do take it, it got me BA silver) with BA running late to Dublin, and ryanairs hellish luggage checkin desks at Dublin. If it wasn't for their business plus line, there was no way we'd have made it. I've been starting in Birmingham, obviously this is for us provincials, rather than those who start at LHR...

Having recently done the hand baggage only thing, it does have the appeal of walking straight off and through the departures, avoiding luggage delays and queues checking bags back in....

Anyone used it?

Sounds great but the Mon- Fri 9 - 5 pick up and delivery kills it for me with regards weekend flights but think it's a great idea.

Don't think I could ever use it the Mrs never lets the bags out of her sight and won't do twilight check in :-D in case it goes missing

How can they deliver to an airport?

You need to be present to check your own bags in.

Your assumption is the starting airport is heathrow. We'd be flying from Birmingham. Seems somewhat pointless to go all way down to London just for left luggage...

Ah well, looks like lumping on and off the flight...
