Been trying to find UC reward seats to BGI for August 2016 since they became available, however the reward booking page just says there are no reward seats available for August. Haven't had chance to call VS to check but will try to this week, but does anyone know if this is a glitch or if there are really no rewards available? Having checked earlier this year for August 2015 availability, there seemed plenty, even until the last minute, so find it strange that there are no rewards at all! Wondered if anyone could shed any light on this or is it just the enigma that is the VS reward booking system?

Also, I know there's just been a sale but the dates I'm looking to travel weren't covered, so I was wondering if anyone knew when the next UC sale would likely be (to cover next August) as we've booked accommodation but holding out for cheaper flights &/or rewards as we're looking to book 7 seats.

Thanks in advance for any head up!

Reward seats in August to a popular destination in a cabin with only 14 seats are always going to be limited and will get snapped quickly. You certainly aren't going to get 7.

Same with sale fares - if they can sell the seats for full price then why discount them?

ISTBC but I think they use an A330 to BGI at the moment so a few more seats in upper but I agree with tonty, you will struggle to get 7 upper reward seats

Not sure if you've seen this or not but there are currently quite a few UC reward seats from BGI -> LGW. Just nothing on the way out. This is for 7 passengers:

Obviously a big gamble booking them and not your outbound but if it was just myself travelling I would personally take the risk and if it doesn't pay off look at JFK or MIA and find a connecting flight. If I was responsible for getting 6 others there, I'm not so sure!

Thanks for the replies! I'm not actually looking for 7 reward seats, there just happen to be 7 of us travelling, so if we were able to get a couple of rewards & possibly some in the sale then it'd be a bonus. I do know that it is possible to get 7 on the LGW-BGI route as it does have the 32 seat cabin & we managed to get 7 reward seats when we travelled there this year. Just found it strange that there appears to be no availability at all for August! Having briefly read another post today, someone else also appears to have the same issue on LGW-CUN flights in August, & I'm sure I read recently someone else having no luck finding reward seats for Aug, so was wondering if there was a reason for this, given that historically, they do offer rewards in the school holidays!

Thanks Mike, I'll have a look at that & check out the options. Like you, I'm not sure I fancy having to do a connecting flight via US but it's an option.

Just a guess, but July and August are usually the "sale" months for business class travel on the major airlines. Maybe the thinking is to see how many seats they can sell at reduced prices for these months before they open them up to Award travel.

There is zero availability in any class for LGW-BGI during August, same for LGW-CUN.

Yet heavy availability in the reverse direction.

That may be the case for traditional 'business' destinations but the premium leisure market has increased massively over the last few years and the old adage of "if people are buying at full price then why would we discount" applies
